HAG focuses on Joint Clinical Assessment and next steps of HTAR in its eighth meeting

Members of the Heads of HTA Agencies Group reunited on 16 and 17 April for their ninth meeting since the Group was setup in September 2021. The meeting was hosted and organised by Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE), under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This was an opportunity for our network to welcome KCE’s new General Director Ann Van den Bruel.

HAG members came together for the meeting to discuss the challenges and implications of the HTA regulation, 9 months ahead of its implementation. Particular attention was paid to joint clinical assessments and the implementing acts under preparation. The Group was pleased to welcome representatives from the European Commission with whom the HAG works in close collaboration on these activities.

The HAG reiterated the importance of the European HTA system, which must be built on the principles of solidarity, inclusiveness, and impartiality.

Finally, the Group agreed to develop a strategic plan for the future, and to continue its work monitoring discussions on the review of the pharmaceutical legislation and its impact on the assessment of health technologies.
