HAG members discuss the national implementation of the HTAR and look on future developments including the EU Pharma Reform

Members of the Heads of HTA Agencies Group reunited virtually on 31 January for the 7th time. The meeting was hosted by INFARMED’s President and HAG Chair, Rui Santos Ivo.

HAG members came together to discuss, among other issues, national developments for the implementation of HTAR. The adaptation of national legislation and the need to strengthen the agencies’ operational and resource capacity were identified priorities for the coming months.

The group also discussed and approved a statement on the Pharma Legislation. The HAG welcomed the Commission’s proposal for a revised pharmaceutical legislation in the European Union and especially appreciated the Commission’s commitment to promoting timely and equitable access to safe, effective and affordable medicinal products across all European countries. The statement pointing to the areas of particular interest to the HAG’s network can be found here.

The Heads of HTA Agencies also welcomed new representatives from the network: Prof. Jakub Velik (SUKL, CZ), Prof Søren Gaard (DMC, DK), Dr Jácinta Juhász (NIPH, HU). This meeting also stands out for welcoming the representatives of the Icelandic Medicines Agency (IMA), Dr Rúna Hauksdóttir Hvannberg, Head of the Agency, and Dr Ólöf Þórhallsdóttir.

The HAG will hold its next meeting in Brussels, Belgium, on the 16 and 17 of April. The meeting is being hosted by Belgium’s KCE, under the Presidency of the Council.
